Kite on ice since the first of February

As part of this project my goal is to track my song selections and see what kind of data they yield. Here is the first installment for month 1. Let me know if there are any stats that you would find interesting as a reader.

A few reflections:

It’s interesting, but not entirely surprising, that California and New York are the two most represented states thus far.

Apparently I have a preference for Spring tours at this point as well. The most frequent month selected was April. Clearly I haven’t gotten too far into the numerous May 1977 releases!

I’m a bit surprised by the most common years represented thus far as well. My favorite periods are probably 69-77 and 89-90. In that sense 1972 and 1989 are not surprising (although I tend to prefer the first half of 1990 over 1989), but 1968 and 1978 I would not have predicted at the outset. 1969 and 1977 wouldn’t have surprised me. What a difference a year makes!

My Bobby kick at the end of the month brought the totals by lead vocalists closer together. The funny thing is I like a number of Brent songs, but it seems like most of his that have been released are from the 88-90 period and I don’t want to return to the same well too frequently, at least at this point in the project.

It seems I lean more heavily toward set starters as well. I’m not quite sure why that is, but it will be interesting to see how much that changes.

I think that’s about it for the time being. I will continue to expand these, especially as song titles appear more than once, etc.
